US Department of Labor and the Wage and Hour Division

DOL State Labor Offices and State Laws
This is an excellent resource.  It points you to state labor offices and a chart of various state laws including minimum wage, meal periods, pay frequency, etc.

Code of Federal Regulations - Wage and Hour
There are better sources of information, but if you really have to know the source, here it is.  Here are the new regulations related to exempt classifications (FairPay) and overtime calculations

This is a PDF file of the entire act.

Wage and Hour Division - Handy Reference Guide
A vary good summary of Wage and Hour rules and the FLSA.  There's lots of good information here.

Information for New Businesses
Designed as a guide for new businesses, this page also details most of the labor laws and provides an index of specific fact sheets on labor law.

Wage and Hour Recordkeeping requirements
Records retention requirements, and the information you're supposed to be retaining.

Wage and Hour - Homeworker requirements
An overview of the issue, as well as the statute regarding records to be kept.

Job rights for military reserve
This is a fact sheet put out by the DOL regarding the rights of reservists who are on active duty.  It covers extension of benefits and reemployment rights.

Legal Information Institute - Code of Federal Regulations - Wage and Hour

Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration - This is another division of the DOL.  Of interest to payroll folks is their information on COBRA.

FMLA Information
The DOL has some useful information on FMLA including a very useful general overview of the law, the employer response to employee form, the health care provider certification form, and a fact sheet.

You need to hang posters at your office.  And don't forget your state posters too.  They have other guides including information for small businesses, and a poster advisor
